Passing the Time at SeaTac Airport

If you have a significant layover at SeaTac Airport, don’t fret, there are actually plenty of things that you can do.

Depending on how much time you actually have, you may or may not want to wander very far from the airport itself. You should always plan to be back at the airport 2 hours before your flight. This is especially true for Seattle, because traffic can change instantly and it would be shame to get caught in it and miss your flight. So plan accordingly.

If you have at least a couple of hours then you’ll be free to visit the stores in your local vicinity. Within 10 minutes from the airport you’ll find:

Southcenter Mall

Want to shop for asian groceries? Watch a movie in a theater? Eat good food? You’ll find it all here. With over 200 stores to shop through, you can pass the time in a hurry. There are even massage parlors to help you relax before your flight!

iFly

If you’re like me, then maybe you’ve dreamt of what it would feel like to fly. The experience you get at iFly might be one of the closest feelings you’ll get to actually flying. By gearing up and hopping into one of the designated fly rooms, you’ll be able to hover in the air like superman. Kush 21

If you’re able to make it to Seattle, then don’t forget to visit Pioneer Square. This tourist attraction runs along the beach and features a wide variety of Seattle’s signature shops. Here you can eat fresh crab, window shop through the market, and even ride the iconic ferris wheel.

Space Needle

For a small fee you can take an elevator to the top of the 605 foot tower for the panoramic view of the city. If you’re hungry for a meal you can even eat at the rotating restaurant at the top.

Alki Beach

If you have a sunny day, then you may want to head down to West Seattle and stroll along Alki Beach. Here you can enjoy the weather and the beautiful view of the ocean. If you come at night time, the scenery offers a gorgeous view of the city lights.

 

Things To Do In Seattle

Traveling to Seattle sometime soon? There are plenty of things to do in the Emerald city, but we’re going to walk through some of the lesser known attractions that may be very well worth your time.

1)   Head over to Kush 21

nearest pot shop to seatac and burienMarijuana is legal in the state of Washington. So enjoy the best that Seattle has to offer. Located in Burien, Kush 21 is the closest dispensary to the SeaTac Airport. Before you go anywhere, drop by Kush 21 to stock up on all your recreational marijuana needs.

2)   Go to the Unicorn Bar for corn dogs and drinks

Have you ever wanted to go to a carnival, but there wasn’t a show in town? Well, this may be the next best thing. The Unicorn Bar is a carnival themed bar in Capitol Hill, Seattle where you can purchase corn dogs and snacks along with your favorite alcoholic drinks. You’ll even find a fun little arcade to help get you in the carnival spirit.

3)   Visit the Rock BoxRock Box Seattle Washington

Drinks and Karaoke. If you’ve never tried it, then maybe you’ve never really lived. Grab your group of friends and head over to the Rock Box to enjoy some Japanese style karaoke.

4)   Check out the International District

You may want to head over to the international district. There you can visit the local asian supermarket, Uwajimaya, where you can purchase asian groceries, dishes, and even books. If you’re into dim sum, the international district has several restaurants that can fulfill your cravings.  

5)   Climb the walls at Stone Gardens

Rock climbing is an exhilarating and challenging activity. If you’ve never been climbing before, the Stone Gardens is a great place to get your feet wet. They’ll teach you how to put on a harness and begin your climbing journey. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced climber, the Stone Gardens has routes for you.

6)   Play games at Gameworks

Gameworks Seattle Washington20,000 square feet of arcade video games! That’s what you’ll find at Gameworks. If you’re a gaming junkie, or if you just feel like taking a quick trip to blast a few space invaders out of the sky, then Gameworks might be the right place for you. The complex features some of the more innovative games in the industry.

7)   Catch the view from the Smith Tower

Sure, Seattle boasts the iconic Space Needle, but what about the Smith Tower? In 1914 the smith tower was built, making it the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Now it features a historical exhibit as well as gifts and souvenirs. Visitors can also take a trip to the top of the tower for a gorgeous panoramic view of the city.

8)   Take a stroll down Alkai Beach

Up for a game of beach volleyball? Head to West Seattle, visit Alki beach, and join the beach junkies for game or two. Then rent a kayak to take on the open ocean to your hearts content. When you’ve worn yourself out, head over to one of the bars or restaurants for a satisfying meal. And at the end of the day, lay on the beach and watch the sunset.

9) Go social dancing at Century Ballroom

The Century Ballroom is one of the premier spots to go social dancing. If you’ve never done it before, you can attend one of the lessons at the beginning of the night. This will cover all the basics that you need to know before you hit the floor. If you’re looking for a great place to take that date of yours, look no further.
