OG Chem Combines Two Cannabis Classics

October 5, 2022
OG Chem

The OG Chem strain by Phat Panda is a strain made in a nod to cannabis history. Comprised of two classic strains–Chemdawg and OG Kush– the indica-leaning hybrid is known for its diesel and pine flavor profile as well as its potentially heavy-hitting effects. With high potential for medicinal as well as recreational uses, the OG Chem strain may quickly become your new go-to.

Genetics

Chemdawg and OG Kush are two indica-dominant strains that when paired together pass off their best traits to the OG Chem. Firstly, OG Kush is known for its lemon-pine-fuel taste and aroma of fuel, skunk, and spice. Chemdawg also has an unmistakably pungent aroma, diesel, earth, and musk. While its origins are unknown, it is one parent to the OG Kush strain. As a result, the Phat Panda strain takes on a lot of properties from its Chemdawg Parent.

Appearance

OG Chem has fluffy, light green nugs with dark leaves. Bright orange hairs pop up throughout the green shades of the bud and a thick layer of crystal trichomes gives the strain a frosty look.

Cracking open the nugs releases a strong aroma that clearly comes from the Chemdawg. Diesel, musk, and pine combine together to create a gassy and earthy pallet. The scent of the strain is largely due to the presence of caryophyllene, OG Chem’s dominant terpene.

Caryophyllene is one of the most abundant terpenes in cannabis. The terpene gives off a peppery, warm aroma that smells similar to black pepper and diesel. The presence of this terpene also points to a high potential to be a medical strain. This is because caryophyllene is known to have a strong ability to interact with CB2 receptors throughout the body. These receptors are also responsible for the non-psychoactive benefits of THC.

Experience

When it comes to flavor, users can expect a similar experience to the diesel aroma. One Weedmaps commenter remarked on the flavor by stating “Don’t come looking for that OG gas/lemon pledge smell. The cut I smoked smelled predominantly of Chemdawg and tasted like it too”.

OG Chem contains, on average, about 25% THC–making it highly potent. Users may experience a potentially heavy dose of relaxation paired with a possibly euphoric sensation in the mind.

Recreationally, the strain is ideal for spending time outside, listening to music, or getting creative. When it comes to medical potential, the strain has many potential uses. OG Chem may be useful in the treatment of chronic stress, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
