A Guide To The Different Kinds Of Vape Carts?

September 20, 2022

Every month it seems like new vape brands are launching onto the Washington cannabis market. If you are new to vaping, or looking to experiment with different kinds of cartridges, the bulk of options can be overwhelming. Luckily, we are here to break down the different kinds of vape carts to help you narrow down your next purchase. Whether you’re looking for a standard 510 style cartridge, an all-in-one disposable that has everything you need built in, or a proprietary pod system – like STIIIZY or PAX – you can find it at your local dispensary

Which Vape Cart Is Right For You?

Vaping has become a popular pastime for cannabis consumers over the last few years. However, despite the growing trend there is still some confusion surrounding the different kinds of vape carts. The main areas of difference amongst popular vaping systems are their design, user experience, and overall cost. These guiding pillars are usually the first things to consider when trying to narrow down which vape cart is right for you.

510 Thread Cartridges

A 510 Thread style vape cart is the industry standard size for screw-on cartridges that are compatible with the widest range of batteries. Vape batteries for 510 Thread cartridges come in a variety of shapes and sizes, allowing customers to customize their experience to best meet their needs. In the Washington market, vape carts of this style are sold in .5g and 1g quantities, and can range in price from $20-$60 on average. Producers of 510 Thread compatible cartridges use a combination of materials, designs, and concentrate quality to set themselves apart from the crowds of cartridges on dispensary shelves.

To use this style of vape cart, simply screw the 510 Thread vape onto your battery, turn the device on, and activate the atomizer (heating element) according to battery specifications, and then inhale. Once your cartridge runs out of oil, customers can dispose of the cart, charge the reusable battery base, and replace the cart with a new one.

Vape Pods

Vape pods were made popular by brands like STIIIZY and PAX. These proprietary systems use pod style removable cartridges that slide onto the end of a specialized battery. Vape pods are usually held in place magnetically, rather than being screwed on like 510 threads. Once attached, the pods (and the system as a whole) works similarly to the screw-on carts mentioned above. Pod devices come with additional controls, usually operated from a smart device which allows users to fine tune their experience further than most 510 thread batteries. However, vape carts for pod systems can be more expensive and harder to find since they are only produced by certain brands.

Disposable Vape Pens

Disposable vape pens can sometimes be more affordable than a cartridge or pod system for one-time purchase or for those visiting from out of state. These pens contain an all-in-one mechanism that allows users to test out this method of consumption. Ultimately, allowing them to determine if getting a reusable battery is worth the investment. The functionality of disposable vape pens are similar to that of the pod system, but they are often free of buttons. Instead of powering the device on with a click, these devices are breath activated upon inhalation.

If you're wondering how Washington’s cannabis industry is fueling job growth. In addition to being more than 1000 legal dispensaries in the state of Washington, there are 100’s of producers/processors making the 1000’s of products that can be found across the state. That may be why available canna jobs doubled from 2019 to 2020...and counting.
