what is kush

Whether you’ve been consuming cannabis for years or have never touched the plant in your life, you have likely heard a range of terms used for marijuana. This may include weed, pot, ganja, mary jane, and much more. You have likely heard the term kush as well, especially if you’ve visited us at Kush21. So what exactly is kush?

What is Kush?

Kush is another term used for cannabis; it is also used in reference to a specific variety of the plant. It historically refers to indica-dominant hybrid or pure indica varieties that originated from the Hindu Kush strain, however, it is now commonly used as a slang word for weed. Though it culturally refers to high-quality, premium strains, many people use kush to refer to weed in general.

Kush Strains

The word “kush” is arguably most famously used when referring to the beloved and classic OG Kush strain, which is derived from Hindu Kush, a landrace strain. The Hindu Kush strain is an indigenous cannabis plant that originates from the Himalayan mountain range where it naturally grows free. You’ll also see the Kush lineage in strains like Afghan Kush, Bubba Kush, Master Kush, Banana Kush, Purple Kush, Pure Kush, and more.

Other Terms for Cannabis

In addition to the term “kush” being used to describe cannabis, there are nearly dozens of other words also used. This includes: marijuana, weed, pot, bud, nug, mary jane, green, flower, ganja, reefer, grass, dope, herb, tree, dope, dank, chronic, and even more.

Furthermore, there continues to be new words surfacing to describe cannabis. Other words used to describe premium weed include fire, pressure, gas, and ZaZa.
