Does Eating Fruit Increase Your Cannabis High?

May 28, 2021

Have you ever wondered if there was any kind of food or drink that would increase the effects of your high when consuming cannabis? Kush and Orange Juice is a mixtape by rapper Wiz Khalifa which made a lot of stoners feel that their high was elevated by having orange juice. We feel it’s important to dive into the question of whether or not fruit may stimulate your cannabis high.

Now that there are actually scientific studies on cannabis, its effects, and uses, we can test to see if that is true. In general, terpenes can be considered as a companion in the entourage effect. For example, the consumption of mangos, which have the terpene myrcene in them, may strengthen your high and possibly even lengthen it. However, just because fruit contains terpenes, does not mean they will actually have a strong enough effect to actually enhance your high.

Mango has really been the only fruit brought up as a potential enhancer of the effects of cannabis. However, there are plenty of other foods and drinks out there that might increase your high in some shape or form. For example, nuts have Omega-3 fatty acids. These acids bind to cannabinoids and facilitate them through the Blood-Brain Barrier. This means that with good fats in the system, someone could possibly get higher faster and for a longer duration. Even broccoli may help the effects of cannabis. It contains a terpene called Beta-caryophyllene. This terpene binds to a specific cannabinoid receptor and works with other cannabinoids to potentially reduce pain, depression, and inflammation.

Though you can find many of these chemicals such as terpenes or Omega-3 fatty acids in other fruits, it does not guarantee the fruit would create the same facilitating effect. Until more studies are done on consuming fruit to create a stronger high, no one will actually know. However, scientific studies on cannabis are rapidly growing and we will have more information soon. Click here to see some great fruity strains and shop our online menu.
