The Georgetown Morgue: Seattle’s Favorite Way to Celebrate Halloween

October 19, 2021

As October begins, there is only one thing on everyone’s mind: Halloween. The spooky season is one of the most fun times of the year. We all want to celebrate it appropriately, especially since we haven’t been able to for such a long time. That’s why going to a haunted house on Halloween this year is an absolute must!

Seattle has never shied away from the strange. We have nude bike rides every year, a real-life superhero, and we don’t use umbrellas, so, obviously, we do Halloween right. One of the city’s most popular haunted attractions is the Georgetown Morgue. The Georgetown Morgue’s dark history and frightful tour make for a wonderful Halloween activity for those who dare to enter.

The Georgetown Morgue was a fully functional morgue that opened in 1928 under the name Kolling Mortuary Services of Seattle. This building remained an operational morgue until 1989. The only dead bodies inside the Morgue now, are fakes, but the fact that it once housed the real kind can send shivers up your spine. Instead, the Georgetown Morgue is mostly vacant during the year but comes to life each Halloween to terrify us.

One of the things that make this haunt so entertaining is that you never know what to expect. Even if you visited the previous year, each year is unique, with new performers, exhibits, and props. Every Thursday through Sunday in October and the first week of November, you can visit the Georgetown Morgue for some Halloween excitement. If you plan on attending, you can purchase tickets online to save yourself some time when you get there. There is also an escape room on-site that is open seven days a week.

Check out the Georgetown Morgue the next time you visit Kush 21 Seattle; it’s only a 10-minute drive away. Enjoying some high-quality cannabis after a spooky adventure can be a great way to calm your nerves. This house is really scary, so make sure you’re prepared to be afraid and be mindful of bringing children. The Georgetown Morgue is located at 5000 East Marginal Way South in Seattle, Washington, and we hope you enjoy your tour!
